Karachi is the gateway to Pakistan. It is home to the biggest airport and seaport of Pakistan. The major attractions in Karachi are The National Museum, Frere Hall, Tooba Mosque also known as Gol (round) masjid. The father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum is also located in Karachi.

Karachi is home to many pristine beaches namely Clifton Beach, Hawkes Bay, Sand’s Pit, and French Beach.

The hot springs of Mangopir are another good tourist attraction. It is home to a crocodile shrine where 100s are kept in an enclosure. Karachi has a bustling nightlife. The restaurants in Karachi number in thousands and range from top-end fine dining to lip-smacking street food.

Karachi is also home to a range of theatres and cultural centers that have stage plays in both English and Urdu. Just on the outskirts of Karachi, one can visit the Keenjhar Lake as well as the Haleji Lake, which is home to 85% of all the migratory birds in the world. From Karachi, one can also embark on the journey to Gwadar, Pasni, Turbat, and Ormara via the Coastal Highway.

One can go shopping in the very old and traditional Bohri Bazaar and also Empress Market. Both these markets are from colonial times. This is the most vibrant and most educated and intellectually rich city in Pakistan. It is home to about 100 languages. People from all over Pakistan flock to Karachi to look for greener pastures in their lives. Karachi is 2 hours away from Dubai via aircraft.

Itinerary

Day 1Day 1 Karachi, the largest metropolis of Pakistan

Visit the tomb of Quaid-e-Azam, founder of Pakistan. The national museum. The Ferrer Hall. Tooba mosque with its huge flat dome supported on a low red brick wall. Later drive to Clifton Beach to watch the waves of the Arabian Sea, if time permits drive further to Hawks Bay & Paradise point another picnic spot and scenic beach of Karachi. Karachi is the biggest city of Pakistan so in one day it is not possible to see the whole of it. So one has to choose spots if only have one day. Mangu Pir is another place to visit in Karachi, a shrine where one can see hundreds of crocodiles kept in a pool.

Day 2Day 2 Kheenjer Lake, Day trip from Karachi

Driving past flat scrubland we arrive at Bhambore, gateway of Islam in the south Asia. Mohammad Bin Qasim entered in the Subcontinent from Bhambore. Here we will the old walled city of that time and the first mosque of South Aisa. Proceed to Makli, the largest necropolis of the world, with a million graves and tombs. Visit the tombs of bygone kings, generals, scholars and poets. Built with exquisitely carved red sandstone and decorated with glazed tiles, the tombs are testament to a long-vanished advanced culture. At Thatta, visit the 17th century Shah Jehan Mosque with its red brick arches and 99 domes. Continue drive to 32km long Keenjar Lake, the main source of water for Karachi, enjoy boating in the beautiful green lake.

Day 3Day 3 Kirthar National Park, weekend trip from Karachi

Drive through irrigated farmland of Sind known for its production of roses and cotton. By pass the city of Hyderabad and continue drive to Khirthar hills. After an hours drive on the supper highway we leave the main road ant take an exciting 3 hours jeep drive on dirt trek to go deep into the heart of Kirthar National Park. The rolling valleys and contorted, rugged lines of the Kirthar hills form a natural haven for Urial sheep, Ibex & Chinkara gazelle. Arrive Karchat for overnight, the center of the park.

Morning free to explore Khirthar area. From the Karchat center, there are possibilities of many short excursions. Climb 1000 meters high Rano Hill, highest hill in the region. Drive to Makli Style old graveyard with its exquisite tombs. Drive to the few high viewpoints for animal watching and to see small natural water pools for the animals. After lunch drive back to Karachi.
