Tirich Mir (7,708m) is the highest peak of the Hindu Kush Range, located in the remote mountains of northern Pakistan. The massif consists of a series of prominent summits, surrounded by vast glacier systems including the Tirich Glacier, North Barum Glacier, and the Upper and Lower Tirich Glaciers, creating one of the most dramatic high-altitude landscapes in the region.
The main summit of Tirich Mir was first successfully climbed in 1950 by a Norwegian expedition led by Arne Naess, with team members P. Kvernberg and H. Berg reaching the top. The expedition was joined by Professor Hameed Beg of the Karakoram Club (Pakistan), who climbed to an altitude of over 6,096 meters, while Captain Tony Streather of the Chitral Scouts later joined the team from Drosh and also participated in the successful ascent.
Today, the Tirich Mir Expedition remains one of the most prestigious mountaineering objectives in the Hindu Kush, attracting climbers seeking a technically demanding and historically significant 7,000-meter peak surrounded by spectacular glaciers, rugged ridgelines, and remote alpine wilderness.
