Ultar Peak (7388m), known as “The Magnificent Mountain”, rises majestically in the heart of Hunza Valley and is part of the Batura Peak chain, stretching from Chalt Village (Bar Valley) to Kampir Dior in Kurumbar Valley.
The peak is surrounded by some of the most iconic mountains of the region, including:
Lady Finger (Bublimotin)
Marble Peak
Harchinder Peak
Passu Peak
Its neighboring glaciers—Attabad, Ultar, Hassan Abad, and Batura—add to the dramatic landscape, creating an alpine playground for experienced mountaineers.
Ultar Peak has long been recognized as a technical and challenging climb, notorious for:
Steep and steady rock faces
Overhanging sections
Sharp ridges
Frequent rockfalls
Many expeditions attempted to reach the summit in the past, but it remained unconquered until 1997, when a Japanese expedition successfully summited this formidable peak.
Today, Ultar Peak continues to attract climbers seeking high-altitude adventure combined with the stunning beauty of Hunza Valley—making it a truly rewarding expedition in the Karakoram.
